PPS Pulse: September 3, 2019
9/3/2019In this week's PPS Pulse: Grant High set to celebrate re-opening; a look back at summer happenings
PORTLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS | SEPTEMBER 3, 2019 Español | Tiếng Việt | 中文 | Русский | Soomaali Ceremony will celebrate re-opening of Grant High School
After two years of construction and students relocating to another campus, Grant High School re-opened on Aug. 28. Thanks to the generosity of Portland voters who passed the 2012 School Building Improvement Bond, Portland Public Schools was able to create a Northeast Portland high school that, while keeping parts of the historic framework of a campus first built in 1923, now offers a fully modernized campus for learning in the 21st century.
Here is who we are: one district, PPS In this video, we explore this concept: “To find the soul of a major city like Portland, look no further than its public schools."

A look back at what happened during the summer in PPS As the 2019-20 school year gets underway, here’s a look back some of the work and news from Portland Public Schools during the summer:
Students eagerly start the 2019-20 school year Students at Bridger K-8 School waited eagerly for that first school bell to ring and start the 2019-20 school year. Almost 50,000 students across Portland Public Schools started classes this week, including at Scott Elementary, where kids got a chance to meet the district’s head educator, Superintendent Guadalupe Guerrero.
How we send out urgent news in PPS Sometimes things happen that families need to know about immediately – school closures because of weather, school emergencies or special events. Here’s a reminder on how we get that information to you.
