PPS 2022 Summer Programs for Students

This year our 2022 summer programs are set to begin as early as June 21. The $15m program is the most robust summer programming package in PPS and state history.
High quality academic programming
There are opportunities for students of all ages including academic support, credit completion for high school students, enrichment activities, culturally specific learning experiences, and specialized supports for our students with disabilities. These programs are offered by both licensed PPS staff and community partners. Please see the menu of options below. You can learn more about PPS high quality academic programming in this link.
Enrichment and Extended Learning
PPS is partnering with over 50 community organizations to provide a host of free summer enrichment camps for over 7,500 students across Portland.
With more than 50 programs, PPS will provide a wide array of enrichment opportunities. Here are a few highlights of programming:
- Village Resiliency - Wellness Squads will serve middle school students with project based learning and creative expression such as shoe painting/design, candle making, stress tool kit. The focus is on building social and emotional health, stress management and building healthy identity.
- Feed the Mass - will offer Science is Life and Building Blocks to Success programming that provides practical life skills, STEM, and Science Based education to students of all ages such as food science and preparation and Lego Robotics.
- Hand2Mouth - Theater camps will provide students aged 11 -18 hands on experience in all aspects of theater performance including a camp for Spanish speakers and learners.

Also Included in this programming are over 500 youth employment opportunities where high school students can earn significant wages while also exploring careers from science, technology, child care, education, and the arts.
- IRCO - will offer 30 employment opportunities where students can earn $1,000 stipends to participate in community service and community restoration projects. Student interns will be supported by IRCO’s Youth workforce programming and development.
- SEI - will offer 40 high school students employment as assistant coaches and instructors for their summer programs and pay students $16/hr and 30 hours a week.
- Bravo Youth Orchestra - will offer 20 student mentors $17/hr to support Teaching artists at their program sites
- Portland Playhouse - will offer $17/hr to 18 high school student assistant teachers who will be mentored both in and out of the classroom by a Youth Career Manager, participate in weekly staff meetings with all camp staff and will also meet once per week together with the Youth Career Manager to support their learning and growth needs.
