Enrollment and Program Balancing Update

Last night, the SE Guiding Coalition was presented with two proposals regarding the Enrollment and Program Balancing work that should take effect in the fall of 2022.

Like many of our families, we're also learning about the potential impact of the two proposals impact on Woodstock. And, like many of our families, we’re also experiencing a range of emotions as we explore and learn more about these proposals.

We’ve rescheduled our Community Conversations for next week on November 3rd at which time there will be a summary of proposals and the impact on Woodstock. Our time at these meetings will be prioritized to make sure all families understand the two proposals.

The first Community Conversation will be at 8:30 AM for our Chinese families with interpretation support. The second Community Conversation will be at 6:15 PM for our English speaking families.

Again, please be on the lookout for another email this afternoon with information detailing the proposals.

No School Days

There are several days in November when school is closed to students. There’s no school next Friday. The school board just approved an additional professional development day for teachers on Friday, 11/12, following the Thursday, 11/11 holiday. The PPS calendar is available here.

Family Engagement

At the next Woodstock Site Council meeting on November 10th at 2:45 PM, facilitators from our school committees will share a summary of the work committees do at our school and provide an overview of the engagement opportunities. They will also seek out suggestions, input, and ideas from interested parties. We hope all individuals wanting to engage with our committee work will be able to attend.

Covid Testing

We successfully launched the first week of the OHSU Covid-19 testing program. Most participating families should have received a test kit this week. However OHSU is behind on processing. If you didn’t receive a test kit as expected, look for one in the next few weeks.

If you’d still like to sign up, please complete both of these forms:

Once we receive your information, we’ll forward it to OHSU. There’s a minimum two week turnaround time.

One important reminder: on the first week each student receives sample collection instructions and 12 weeks worth of labels. Please keep these items in a safe place. You’ll use two labels each week.

Chromebook Return

New chromebooks were issued for all 3rd-5th grade students this week. If you have an old chromebook, please send it to school with your student. These can be returned to their classroom teacher.

 Lost & Found

We have a large collection of coats in our lost and found. We recommend writing your student’s name inside of their jackets!

We roll out the Lost & Found rack daily. Look for it in front of the office doors before and after school each day. Any remaining items left will be donated at the end of next week.

School Book Fair

The Woodstock School Library Presents the Scholastic Online Book Fair which runs today through Friday, November 12th. Our library earns 25% back in rewards to purchase new books. Free shipping is included for any purchase of $25 or more. Browse books here!

Please feel no obligation to purchase books, we understand that many families are under a lot of financial pressure right now! Questions? Contact Mrs. Lingo via email at rlingo@pps.net.
