JEFFERSON HIGH SCHOOL DUAL ASSIGNMENT PROCESS
What is Dual Assignment?
Students in the Jefferson High School attendance area have a unique choice between Jefferson Middle College for Advanced Studies and a comprehensive high school, based upon their home address. Please use the School Finder tool to verify your dual assignment options.
Jefferson / Grant
Jefferson / Madison
Jefferson / Roosevelt
How does it work? Families residing in dual assignment zones must select a high school either online, through their 8th grade counselor or, for upper grade students, by going to their preferred school.
Families are encouraged to explore program opportunities at each school before selecting their choice. Start by visiting each school’s web page and then call to ask more questions and schedule a visit.
Grade level specifics:
Future 9th graders: Dual Assignment decisions are made in the fall of 8th grade. Families receive information packets and work with their 8th grade school counselors to designate their choice during the High School Focus Option Lottery transfer cycle in November. By choosing their high school early, students can sign up for classes, get to know their school and begin a successful transition to high school.
9th and 10th graders are guaranteed placement at either school of their choice.
11th and 12th graders interested in Jefferson should call the school at 503-916-5180 to set up an interview. You will meet with a vice principal to review your student’s school experience and determine whether the school can meet your student needs and maintain the track for on-time graduation. Your student may be referred to your comprehensive high school for enrollment.
For more information, contact your dual assignment schools or the Enrollment and Transfer Center at 503-916-3205. If you wish to submit your dual assignment choice online, you may do so by completing the petition form at https://www.pps.net/Page/2343.
