     School Supply List  2024-25

    Jackson Middle School

     

    *  Individual teachers may request additional classroom items in the fall.

     

    6th Grade: 


    Personal Supply:

    Students should maintain this personal supply throughout the year. 

    • BINDER/organizer: 3 inch – a place to put your folders, files, notebooks, pencil pouch.

    • 2 spiral notebooks

    • 1 spiral notebook containing graph paper like THIS.

    • #2 Pencils or mechanical pencils

    • Colored Pencils

    • Black fine-tip markers (Flair)

    • Hand-held pencil sharpener

    • Highlighters - multi-color pack

    • 2 pink pearl erasers

    • Pencil pouch with 3 ring holes

    • Scissors that fit in pencil pouch

    • Index cards, 3x5, lined

    • 12 inch ruler (wood or metal) 

    • 4 folders (any color or design)         

    Community Supply:

    • 1 bottle of hand Sanitizer

    • Glue sticks

    • Tissue boxes

    • Highlighters

    • #2 Pencils

    • Graph paper ¼ inch

     

    Calculators:

    Calculators are not required for the 6th grade.

     

    Technology:

    Jackson embraces the use of technology as a tool that enhances learning and provides technology throughout instruction. Students will be issued a PPS issued device after families sign the technology agreement (the second week of school).  These do not belong to students and are managed by JMS staff.  If students do not use them appropriately they will be confiscated.  

     

    Cell Phone Policy:

    Cellphones are not allowed to be used at school.  They should be off and away at all times.  Students can lock them in their lockers, or if they feel it would be safer,turn them into the office each day.  

    If a cell phone is confiscated, it will be available for student pick up in the office after school. The second offense, an adult will be required to retrieve it and then make a usage plan going forward. The same rule applies to Airpods and smart watches.

    FOR COMPACTED MATH ONLY: Scientific Calculator– Recommended: TI-30xs Multiview Calculator or something similar.

    NOTE - Students DO NOT need an expensive graphing calculator. At higher grade levels students use Geogebra or Desmos, which are free online graphing calculators that work much better.
