    Franklin High School senior Aidan Palmer won his second consecutive boys championship, and Lincoln freshman Kate Peters took the girls title at the Portland Interscholastic League district cross country championships Wednesday at Lents Park.

    Marysville students build robots to sample CTE possibilities

    Seventh-graders from Marysville K-8 School took on tiger robots as part of an introduction to programs and careers these young engineers may want to explore. Thanks to a diverse group of local businesses, every PPS seventh-grader is given a three-day Career & Technical Education experience that provides hands-on learning and exposure to careers they may want to pursue. Watch these Marysville students as they build, test and race their robots with the help of mentors from 24 Knots.

    Healthy relationship advocates available to students

    Liane O’Banion, the Title IX Director for Portland Public Schools, worked with two major Portland advocacy groups to create this message about services and supports available to students:

    In an effort to promote a culture of consent, foster healthy relationships and offer comprehensive support to individuals harmed by intimate partner violence, Portland Public Schools is partnering with Raphael House of Portland and Volunteers of America Home Free to make advocacy services available to students, staff and community.

    Franklin students get construction job site experience

    Franklin High School students Nathan Arzate, Giacomo Bordignon and Dora Manzotti had a unique opportunity to go behind the fences and see what really goes on at a major construction site. Their visit to the new Kellogg Middle School site was part of Portland Public Schools’ Career and Technical Education (CTE) work-based learning program.
