• After School Program Information

    SUN Community School:

    SUN Community schools transform schools into full-service community centers that help youth and families succeed.  They build upon positive assets already in communities and tailor their events, classes, services, activities to what the local community wants.  There is a broad range of activities provided at the SUN Community Schools, the primary activities are considered to be:

    • extended day academic and enrichment programs that are linked to the school day
    • family involvement and strengthening programs
    • health and social services for students, families and community
    • community events
    • adult education

    SUN School starts after the start of the school year, on Oct. 1st. You register per term, and are not guaranteed a spot. The days your child attends vary, and are usually 2-3 times per week. Applications will go home with your child about a week before the start of them term.

    The Children’s Club: (Off-Site)

    Children’s Club offers childcare for 2 ½ to 12 (5th grade) years of age. They will pick up students from Grout Elementary and transport them to the club. A sliding fee scale assures accessibility to all income levels. Address: 3520 SE Yamhill St. Portland Oregon 97214 Phone: 503-233-2246

    YMCA: (On-Site)

    The YMCA offers fee-based school enrichment programs to children ages 5 to 12.  It is located at Grout Elementary on school days and off-site on non-school days.  Through local school partnerships they provide opportunities for children to enrich their physical and emotional needs while enhancing their academic needs.  As a result, we create a safe and fun atmosphere that fosters new friendships, improves social skills and provides a chance to learn and grow every day.     Y Arts: (Off-Site)

    Y Arts will provide busing from Grout to the Y Arts facility. This is a program like our on-site YMCA at school, they will just be taking the overflow of students from Grout.

    There will be a slightly different fee to account for transportation, but it will be similar.

    Please turn in your registration to our school YMCA, and they will inform you if you will be at the on-site YMCA program or at the off-site Y Arts program.

    Trackers (Off-Site 1st-5th Grade on Wednesdays Only)

    Get your kids outside! Our Transported After School Outdoors Program (TAO) offers the perfect balance to a long day in the classroom. Each day offers creative and active lessons. While adventuring outdoors, kids wake up to the world around them. They discover confidence and competence. Students work together in a team lead by experienced outdoor educators.
