The health of students is one of the biggest priorities for Portland Public Schools, and thanks to partnerships with health organizations, all of our students have access to free medical services.

Among the options:

Multnomah County has Student Health Centers at eight high school campuses, including five in PPS: Cleveland, Franklin, Jefferson, Madison (at Marshall campus) and Roosevelt. The centers accept all forms of insurance and will see students who are not insured. There is never an out-of-pocket cost for any service.

The centers are open to any Multnomah County resident ages 5 to 18 and offer a wide array of services, including sports physicals; treatment for illnesses and injuries; vision, dental and blood pressure screening; immunizations; mental health services; and age-appropriate reproductive health services. Families can download forms online to fill out and bring to appointments to save time.

Although Multnomah County closed student health centers at Cesar Chavez K-8 and George Middle School earlier this year, and at Harrison Park K-8 and Lane Middle the year before, PPS students can utilize any of the county’s student health centers, including those out of PPS at Centennial, David Douglas and Parkrose high schools. Another PPS high school, Benson Polytechnic, offers health services at its Benson Wellness Center. The clinic is run in partnership with Oregon Health Science University, with Multnomah County also providing mental health services.

The center primarily serves the Benson community, including the Evening Scholars program and Alliance at Benson, which are located on the Benson campus, but it also welcomes all PPS students when there are openings available. See the center website for hours and other information.

Students at Faubion K-8 School have access to the Kaiser Permanente 3 to PhD Wellness Center, part of sharing the campus with Kaiser, Concordia University and Trillium Family Services.

Grant High School, which has re-opened this year after a two-year modernization rebuild, has a dedicated space for a student health center and is looking to partner with an outside health agency.
