Dear PPS Community,

Earlier this year, the PPS School Board unanimously adopted one of the most aggressive school district climate crisis response policies in the nation.

We are now looking for PPS students and members of our community to join the district’s efforts to cut greenhouse gas emission in half by 2030 and make other meaningful progress on important sustainability initiatives.

What will I be responsible for?

As a volunteer member of the first PPS CCR Committee, you will be responsible for monitoring our school district’s progress towards action. You will inform and advise the PPS Board of Education as the school district implements its climate action plan (in development).

Who will make up the CCR Committee? 

We encourage anyone who is interested in supporting our efforts to apply. The CCR Committee will be:

• Appointed by the PPS School Board to initial staggered terms of one and two years, with all subsequent terms being two years. 
• Made up of no more than nine volunteer members
  • At minimum, the majority of members (5 of 9) will identify as people of color.
  • Two current PPS students will serve one-year terms.

What type of time commitment should I expect?   

After the Committee’s initial organizational meetings occur in July 2022, the CCR Committee will meet four times a year. The focus of these meetings will be to assess district actions and data relating to the goals outlined in the Climate Response Policy. Once a year, the CCR Committee will report to the PPS School Board on the implementation and progress of this important work.
