Portland Public Schools will move forward with plans to open two middle schools in 2018-19.
The PPS Board of Education on Tuesday passed Resolution 5534, by a 7-0 vote, directing Superintendent Guadalupe Guerrero to establish Roseway Heights and Harriet Tubman as middle schools, with students in grades 6-8. The board also directed that eight schools be converted into elementary schools with students from kindergarten to fifth grade.
Alex Slenning became the first runner from Wilson High School to win a state cross country title after he outran the 140-runner field in the Class 6A boys championship in Eugene on Saturday.
