News You Can Use from the Multnomah County Library

    For grades K-5:
    Gardening inspiration

It’s finally spring! Are you and your kids thinking of starting a garden this year? If so, check out this booklist created by Multnomah County Library’s School Corps team of librarians:
Gardening grade 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. On it you’ll find books about gardening, native Oregon plants, companion gardening, and composting (fiction and nonfiction) for first, second, third, fourth, and fifth graders. And there are lots of free gardening programs for adults, kids and teens at the library this Spring! Follow the link or stop by your local library for more information.

    For grades 5-12:
    Summer Reading volunteer recruitment
Do you have a teen (or tween) who wants to inspire people to read this summer? If so, they can volunteer with the Summer Reading program! As a volunteer, they will help people sign up for the game, award prizes, talk with people about books, and more. Volunteer shifts begin on June 16 and end on August 31. Summer Reading volunteer applications are available online at multcolib.org/volunteer or at your local library. Volunteers must be entering 6th grade in the Fall (or older.)
