    Dear PPS Community,

The PPS Board of Education will consider a resolution at an upcoming meeting to make Monday, January 31 into a school climate work day for school staff, with no classes held for students.

If the school board approves this recommendation from PPS leadership, the day would change from a regular school day with students to a day of staff collaboration and planning. It would allow schools to continue working on their campus-specific school climate plans and instructional practices to support the needs of students.

The school climate planning day would come on the first day of the second semester for the 2021-22 school year.  Friday, January 28, is an already scheduled, end-of-semester grading and planning day.  Students would return to school in-person on February 1.

The Board will hold a special meeting to vote on the resolution on Tuesday, January 18, at 4:45pm, before the start of its scheduled Board retreat. If you would like to offer comment, please email PublicComment@pps.net or call the Board Office at 503-916-3741. A live-stream of the meeting will be available on the PPS YouTube page.
