    May is Mental Health Awareness Month: Information and Resources from PPS Student Support Services

    While focusing on mental wellness is essential every month, May has been designated as Mental Health Awareness Month. Portland Public Schools is committed to uplifting wellness and to supporting all of our students to stay healthy, mentally and physically. 

    PPS Office of Student Support Services collaborates with staff and   community partners to provide a wide range of supports, from our school social workers, school counselors,  and school psychologists to our community partners.     Resources

    Your school counselor, school social worker, or school psychologist has information about getting support, or you can always contact the following organizations if you are concerned about yourself or someone else. You can reach out to:

    • Youth Line: Text Teen to Teen 839863
      • Teens have access to texting trained teen mental health responders
    • ReachOut Oregon warmline for parents and caregivers:  1-833-732-2467
      • This is a community network where questions are answered, resources are shared, and needs are understood. 
    • Lines for Life general line: Call 800-273-8255
    • Lines for Life Racial Equity Support Line staffed by and for people of Color: 503-575-3764
    • Trevor Line for LGBTQIA+ Youth: Text “START” to 678678
    • Multnomah County Crisis Line including mobile outreach: Call 503-988-4888 (interpretation available and open 24/7)
    • National Suicide Prevention Hotline: Call 1-800-273-8255 (interpretation available and open 24/7)

    • SafeOregon tip line: Call or Text 844-472-3367 Email: tip@safeoregon.com
      • The tip line provides a secure, confidential means of alerting school administrators of explicit or potential threats to student safety.
