    Vernon School Mission Statement

IBelieve. IBelong. IBecome. Come grow with us.

Vernon staff, students, and community will work together to create a learning environment that provides opportunities for each student to be challenged academically, enhance positive self esteem, develop respect and concern for others, and become responsible, independent, global thinkers.

    IB Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

Our programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

    Portland Public School Mission Statement

By the end of elementary, middle and high school, every student by name will meet or exceed academic standards and will be fully prepared to make productive life decisions.

    Professional Development

As IB educators and learners ourselves, our staff is committed to ongoing inquiry, action, and reflection to refine and reflect on our practice. We are committed to the PPS Successful Schools Framework to help us strategically and intentionally grow as educators and professionals.

    Who We Are

Vernon IB World School provides education for the whole child. Our approach is guided by global best practices, inspiring inquiry and action, while building on and enriching local, state and national standards. We aim to achieve success for all of our students through empowering our amazing, unique, and diverse students and community.

    We teach students how to:

    • Be internationally-minded,
    • Inquire, Act, and Reflect,
    • Embrace differences, and
    • Make a positive contribution in our community and world.

We encourage students to be inquirers, to question assumptions, to think globally about their place in the world, and to act locally in ways that make a positive difference in their community.

We offer art, music, and two world languages (Spanish and Mandarin). Our beautiful native and edible educational gardens extend learning opportunities beyond the classroom.

Our on-site before and after care options include our incredible SUN program and the YMCA.

We have an active, caring community of parents, teachers, and administrators dedicated to our kids’ and community’s success.

Our students will tell you that at Vernon: “IBelieve, IBelong, IBecome.” Come grow with us.
