    Hello Creative Science Community,

My name is Laura Axon and I am the new Library Media Specialist. I am so excited to be a Creative Science and will be even more so when I get to meet more students, families and staff members.

I will be creating displays in the case at the front entrance to the school beginning with National Hispanic and Latino/a/x Heritage Month.

September 15 to October 15 is celebrated nationwide as National Hispanic Heritage Month. It traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries. During this month and throughout the year, we, and our partners, share history, heritage, and accomplishments of Hispanic and Latino Americans of past and present.

Hispanic refers to a person who is from, or a descendant of someone who is from, a Spanish-speaking country.

Latino/a or Latinx refers to a person who is from, or a descendant of someone who is from, a country in Latin America.

I will be creating a booklist and displaying books in the front case. I would like to include traditional items from our communities' homes if there are any artifacts or celebration items we can display that showcase the meaning  and importance of your Hispanic/Latino Heritage to you.

Please email me at laxon@pps.net  or stop by the library if you have any questions or items that we can include in the display.
