2020-2021 ORCA Book Challenge
Forest Park School will be participating in the 2020-2021 Oregon Reader's Choice Awards (ORCA). It was established in 2010 as a way for the Oregon youth to have a voice in what they believe to be the best books for students.
There are 3 different divisions, based on appropriate content. If a student reads at least 2 books in the Elementary Division, that student is allowed to vote for their favorite one in an election in March.
Upper Elementary (grades 3-5):
Bob by Wendy Mass and Rebecca Stead and Nicholas Gannon
Cardboard Kingdom by Chad Sell
Dragons in a Bag by Zetta Elliott
Front Desk by Kelly Yang
Knights vs. Dinosaurs by Matt Phelan
Louisiana’s Way Home by Kate DiCamillo
Out of Left Field by Ellen Klages
Thirty Minutes Over Oregon: A Japanese Pilot’s World War II Story by Marc Tyler Nobleman and Melissa Iwai
From March 1st to March 31st, any Oregon student or teacher can vote for their favorite Oregon Reader's Choice Award (ORCA) book, as long as they have read at least TWO books in any of the divisions.
