BEH Weekly Family Message
12/4/2023Hello BEH Families,
It is so amazing to be back with students and teachers again. This week is a busy one, so I will spare the dialogue and get straight to the happenings for the week.Picture Retake Day:Tomorrow is picture retake day. This means that if you ordered pictures and were not happy with them, you can send them back with your student tomorrow and they can get their picture taken again. Also, anyone that missed getting their picture taken earlier this year will have the opportunity to get it taken as well. All School Assembly:Tomorrow we will be having an all school assembly at 2:00 PM. We will be talking about our core values, sharing some school wide updates, and handing out BEH Hoodies to all of our students. As a result, your student will likely be coming home with a new BEH Forever Hoodie tomorrow.Spirit Week Make-Up:At our assembly tomorrow I will let students know that we will be giving them back the two spirit week days that were missed during the start of the teacher strike. As a result, Wednesday of this week will be dress in your favorite color(s) day and Thursday will be pajama day.Report Cards:All report cards will come home with students on Friday of this week. Their MAP assessment results will also be included with their report cards. Please check their backpacks for them on Friday.Parent-Teacher Conferences:Our first two evenings of parent-teacher conferences will be Wednesday and Thursday (December 13th & 14th) of next week. Classroom teachers will be reaching out with their available time slots. Watch ClassDojo for more information.Parking & Drop-off/Pick-Up Routines:Now that the parking lot is reopened, we would like to ask that parents that are picking up students use the parking lot to pull in and pick them up. The right lane will be for cars to pull up and remain at the wheel for us to get your student to you. The left lane will be for traffic to slowly drive through. All buses will remain on the Borthwick side to reduce visibility challenges and maintain a flow through the parking lot.Chromebook & Cord Return:Please return any Chromebooks and cords that were borrowed during the strike if you have not done so already. We are trying to get our Chromebook Carts rebuilt and the tech organized so that students can utilize them in schools for instruction again.Site Council Recording:Our Site Council had their first meeting with the newly elected team last week. Here is a recording of the meeting if you are interested in hearing what was discussed.Family Volunteers Needed December 18th-22nd:We anticipate a high level of absences for both students and staff on the added week of winter break. We would love to have family members that are available and interested in supporting with activities and supervision during that week. Here is a survey to indicate your availability or interest if that sounds like a way you could help for any of those days. Teachers will also be reaching out this week through ClassDojo to gauge projected attendance of students to help with the planning for this week.Holiday/Winter Break Support:If your family could use some extra support for the holidays/winter break please don't hesitate to reach out to me through response to this email, by letting your child's teacher know, or reaching out to our counselor (Ms. Spindor) at eispindor@pps.net.BEH Musical Theater Night:BEH Families!
We've got a super cool student talent showcase coming up that you definitely don't want to miss!
Over the past several weeks, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade artists have been working with professional actor/musician Lauren Steele (kids know her as Ms. Lo) on writing original songs and theatre pieces.
And they are PUMPED to perform their incredible creations for you! We're talking songs overflowing with heart and short plays bringing imaginative characters and stories to life on stage.
We'll be transforming the BEH gym into a performance space filled with artistry, empathy, and star talent shining bright on:
