    The PTA: We create community, enhance learning and organize volunteers.


    Your PTA needs you! Find out how you can get involved, support our community and keep the ACCESS tradition of service strong. Our goal is participation – find your role and contribute however and whenever you can to help ACCESS serve our kids. There are lots of ways to get involved:

    Supporting our Teachers

    Each year, ACCESS PTA provides each full-time teacher and counselor with funds to enhance student learning. They use the funds for such things as:

    • Field trips that support and deepen classroom curriculum
    • Art, craft, science, special project, and office supplies and equipment
    • PE equipment and library books
    • Classroom library books and periodicals
    • Classroom party supplies and room decor

    Building our Community

    Events throughout the year give ACCESS students, families and staff special opportunities to get to know one another.  Join fellow parents and the PTA in planning, hosting and enjoying these events, which in the past have included:

    • Harvest Festival — Sunday in October
    • Book Fair — December
    • Game Nights, Movie Nights, Dine Outs and other social events
    • Middle School Socials  
    • ACCESS Auction (to support the ACCESS Foundation) — Saturday, April 6, 2019
    • Spring Science Fair

    Engaging our Students
    Parents and the ACCESS PTA help provide after school enrichment and after care activities for students.  Offerings for 2018-19 have not yet been determined, but in past years included:

    • Chess Club
    • Lego Robotics – volunteer coaches needed; teams forming.
    • Futsal
    • NeoGeography
    • Creative Writing
    • Amateur Ham Radio Club
    • Ukelele
    • Makerspace/Gamespace
    • Enrichment classes (date/times TBA) – volunteer your talent or your ideas!

    Advocating for our School

    This year the PTA will continue advocating for a permanent one-site location for ACCESS, while managing the current temporary co-locations at our two sites.

    Serving our City

    Community service is foundational to ACCESS Academy. Students and their families can contribute through PTA-supported activities including

    • ACCESS Community Service Student Leadership Program
    • Oregon Food Bank volunteer opportunities
    • PTA Clothing Closet volunteer opportunities
    • Volunteer opportunities and book collection drive for Children’s Book Bank

    Follow news and get announcements at the ACCESS Academy Parents facebook page.

    Communicate with other ACCESS families via the PTA School Directory, which also signs you up to receive our weekly Atomic Flyer electronic newsletter. 

    Volunteering!

    Choose activities that interest you, or based on your availability. Fill a vacant position or create a new one of your own. See current identified volunteer needs online or on this form

    Please note:

    • Volunteers must sign in at the ACCESS office and wear a nametag while on site. 

    Join ACCESS PTA, either online through the ACCESS PTA Membership Toolkit Site or with this form.  

    Get involved in making decisions and leading at ACCESS--Become a PTA Membership. Membership is $10.00 per year.

    All parents are welcome to participate. The ACCESS PTA has dedicated funds to help pay PTA membership dues, if needed. For more information, please contact: PTA Treasurer Sally Maltman at access.pta.treasurer@gmail.com. All requests will be kept confidential.

    PTA meetings will be held at a central location this year; dates TBD. General meetings are OPEN TO ALL and are a great way to learn about our vibrant community.
