• ACCESS PTA & VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

    The mission of the PTA “is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.” ACCESS PTA’s goal is to provide a vibrant and positive learning environment and support the school, students, staff, and caregivers. We rely on our volunteers to engage the community, to fundraise, and to provide the support for students to excel.

    The ACCESS PTA is made up of a 6-person volunteer executive board PLUS a vast and vibrant group of parent and teacher volunteers who pool their talents to provide practical support, and are integral to making a myriad of things happen.     MEETINGS

    PTA meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of every month from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Meetings are held via Google Meet, unless otherwise indicated. General meetings are open to all, and are a great way to learn about our vibrant community. Please mark your calendars for the 2024–25 meetings!

    SUPPORTING OUR TEACHERS

    Each year, ACCESS PTA provides each full-time teacher and counselor with funds to enhance student learning. They use the funds for such things as:

    • Field trips that support and deepen classroom curriculum
    • Art, craft, science, special projects, and office supplies and equipment
    • PE equipment and library books
    • Classroom library books and periodicals
    • Classroom party supplies and room decor

     

    BUILDING OUR COMMUNITY

    Events throughout the year give ACCESS students, families and staff special opportunities to get to know one another.  Join fellow parents and the PTA in planning, hosting and enjoying these events, which in the past have included:

    • Back to School Ice Cream Social
    • Harvest Festival in October
    • Pi Day in March
    • 8th grade dances and graduation events
    • Community potlucks, game nights, and other social activities

    Follow news and get announcements at the ACCESS Academy Parent Facebook page.
    Communicate with other ACCESS families via the PTA Membership Toolkit, which also signs you up to receive our weekly Atomic Flyer electronic newsletter.

    VOLUNTEERING
    Choose activities that interest you, or based on your availability. Fill a vacant position or create a new one of your own. Please email volunteer@accessacademypta.org for more information and to sign up for volunteering.

    Please note:

    • Portland Public Schools requires all school volunteers to pass a criminal background check. Find out more (or check your volunteer status) here: http://www.pps.k12.or.us/volunteer/6278.htm.
    • Volunteers must sign in at the ACCESS office and wear a nametag while on site.

     


    Join ACCESS PTA

    You can join the PTA online at www.AccessAcademyPTA.org. Membership is $10.00 per year. All parents are welcome to participate. The ACCESS PTA has dedicated funds to help pay PTA membership dues, if needed. For more information, please contact the PTA Treasurer at treasurer@accessacademypta.org. All requests will be kept confidential.
