To help reduce costs by buying in bulk and reduce waste by allowing teachers to purchase only the supplies they need as they need them. We are asking for a contribution of $50.00 per student for school supplies. If $50 for supplies is a challenge, please let Jenny Morgan know, and we are happy to help. If you would like to give more to help support other students, please feel free to add that donation to your child's account. If you have more than one child you will have a school supply item for each student in School Pay. Here is the link.
If you have any questions, please contact Christine in the office.
Thanks so much!

I am absolutely stunned that I am writing the final Monday Mailer of the year. Time has truly moved quickly, especially this last month of school.
I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for the tremendous generosity and support you have given me over the last six years. We have worked together to do some amazing things for our kids. Abernethy is a special place and will always hold part of my heart. Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to reach out the last several weeks. Your kind words mean the world to me. I look forward to working with the new principal and staff to make the transition as smooth as possible. I know there are great things to come for everyone.
Before the school year ends we have a few special events and reminders:
After students leave for the summer, teachers will be preparing report cards for mailing home. If you have recently moved, please make sure you let Christine in the office know of any address changes.
Report cards will likely be mailed home the week of June 24th. Inside the envelope you will receive your class placement for the coming year. Instead of sending home school supply lists, we will again be asking for a $50 school supply donation. This worked well last year and was certainly easier. Information will be coming home shortly on how you can submit payment on line. You will need your child’s student ID number to submit payment. That information can be found on their report cards.
Thank you all again for a wonderful school year. I hope you have a wonderful summer with your family. I am hopeful that you will hear information on your new principal prior to school ending so that question will be settled as well.
All the best,
A public hearing will be held by the Tax Supervising and Conservation Commission on the budget approved by the Budget Committee for Portland Public School District 1J, Multnomah County, Oregon for the fiscal year July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020. The hearing will be held in the Board Auditorium at the Blanchard Education Service Center (BESC), 501 North Dixon Street, Portland, Oregon, on the 25th day of June at 3 p.m.
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Liane Kehaulani O’Banion has accepted our offer to become Portland Public School’s Director of Title IX Policy, Training & Compliance.
The new mascot and nickname for Franklin High School will be Lightning. The process to determine a new identity for the school was finalized Tuesday, when the Portland Public Schools Board of Education unanimously approved Superintendent Guadalupe Guerrero’s recommendation.
