    PGE partners with PPS to boost creation of comprehensive climate justice curriculum

    Portland Public Schools’ creation of a comprehensive curriculum on climate change received a major boost last week. In a joint event at Bridger K-8 School, Portland General Electric announced that it is investing $250,000 in the effort.

    Markham 5th-graders get their turn as the dragon to celebrate Lunar New Year

    It’s a right of passage for fifth-grade students at Markham Elementary. Every Lunar New Year the 10- and 11-year-olds look forward to the longstanding tradition of celebrating the event by creating and being part of a 30-foot dragon. For arts teacher Erica Huber, Chinese New Year is an opportunity to teach appreciation for art, music and culture from the Asian community.

    Schools set to celebrate Black History Month

    Black History Month is underway around the country, and students in Portland Public Schools are participating throughout the district, with gatherings, curriculum, decorations and other activities that recognize and celebrate the achievements of African Americans.
