• News from Lane: Celebrations, Updates and Reminders

    January 2023

    Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a wonderful time with family and friends over the break!  Thanks to each of you, we had a great first half of the school year - author visits, conferences, field trips, outdoor school, winter concerts, craft night and more. Let’s keep up the good work!  Our success is your success.

With that, I am extremely excited about the road ahead.  The next few months are filled with promise and opportunities for us to provide our students with the tools they need to to achieve their learning goals in a safe, warm, caring, supportive and fun environment.  As we kick off the new year, here are  a few reminders:

    Safety Reminders

For many families, winter break marks a special time of travel, family gatherings, and giving. We know many students received cell phones,  air pods, bluetooth headsets and other expensive gifts over the break. We strongly encourage students to leave expensive items at home, to avoid potentially having valuable items lost or stolen. Our school has an off and away policy in the learning environment and is not responsible for lost or stolen items.  To ensure that students are able to enjoy their gifts for an extended time, please talk with your child about keeping those cherished items safe at home.

    Student Health & Behavior

Returning to school from extended break periods can sometimes cause stress, anxiety and/or have a greater than usual impact on students' social and emotional health.   As always, we strive to provide a safe learning environment for every student and our counselors are ready to support them in every way possible while at school. Please reach out if you have any concerns.

Also, please take a moment to talk with your student(s) about healthy ways to resolve conflicts and remind them of our school values - Accountable, Safe and Kind.  If at any time your student feels unsafe at school, please encourage them to reach out to an adult in the building.

    Chromebooks

As mentioned, Chromebooks are an essential tool in our learning environment.  Please continue to encourage your students to bring their charged Chromebooks to school each day.
