• Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB):

Welcome to 2025-2026 OBOB! This is a friendly optional competition for 6th, 7th, & 8th graders to participate in! Each year this event is coordinated by the Oregon Association of School Librarians; this is the largest Book Club in the state and is designed to promote reading!

OBOB’s mission is to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading, to broaden reading interests, to increase reading comprehension, promote academic excellence, and to promote cooperative learning and teamwork among students.

Teams will form by October 29th, weekly lunch practice will start in the library November, and battles start in January! The final school battle will be held in February to determine which team will represent MTMS at Regionals.

Here are some helpful links and tips:

2025 Registration Form  MTMS OBOB 2025-2026 Registration and Parent Permission is due by October 29th. Each student must register individually. No team, no problem! We will help all interested students find a team.

2025 Book List- here's the list of books for this year from the OBOB website. The MTMS Library has 4 copies of each book. If your team wants to purchase the books, Powells.com often offers 20% off and has a good selection of used copies. Thriftbooks is another reasonably priced option for purchase. And just a reminder, audio books are a great option for reading the books.

https://obob.dog/ – Great free practice resource created by a Glencoe Elementary
parent. It includes the Practice Questions from the question bank that we participate in
as well as the Cedar Mill, Beaverton, and Lake Oswego questions. You can also
    contribute questions and offer feedback.

Book Assignment Template— This can be helpful for teams to divide up the books. Students do NOT need to read all 16 books. In fact, we recommend each team member read half the books, or 8 books apiece and be the primary reader or book expert on 4 books and secondary reader or back up on 4 books.

Practice Questions - COMING SOON!!! This is a link to a question bank of questions organized by book.

Practice Questions - Cedar Mills & Bethany Community Libraries are a great resource for practice questions. They will update the questions for this year later in the fall. The Lake Oswego Library will also be adding practice questions later in the fall.
