A little about me: I will be starting my 7th year as a 2nd grade teacher at Woodmere. After “graduating” from teaching kindergarten for a number of years at Lent K-8, I was excited to work with 7 & 8 year olds. The sense of awe and wonderment they hold balances so nicely with the independence that they are developing as learners. At Woodmere, I feel very Lucky to work with an amazing staff that is dedicated to making a student’s experience positive and personal. In addition, the families that I have met have been wonderfully interesting. Growing up down south in Eugene, Oregon, I was lucky to have some public school teachers that pushed me, and others, to see many sides of one issue or story. I learned that though not everything is just in our society, we “everyday” folks can stand up for what we believe in. Also, I always enjoyed music class!
Outside of school I spend a lot of time taking walks with my dog, Lucky. I also get to volunteer with a great organization that tackles issues around income inequality. Over the past few years, I have been trying to move from dabbling in my garden, to growing and expanding it. This activity has taught me to try, observe, learn, and enjoy. I like cooking without recipes; taking in humorous media; making art cards and spending time with family and friends.
