    Background and Membership
    The da Vinci Site Council was established pursuant to the Oregon Educational Act for the 21st Century (the Act) for the purpose of helping improve student achievement.  In compliance with the Act, Site Council membership is made up of at least one administrator or designee, a classified staff representative, elected faculty representatives, elected parent representatives, and at da Vinci, student representatives as well.     Responsibilities of the Site Council include conducting monthly meetings in order to:

    • Focus on improving student achievement.
    • Contribute to the school improvement plan.
    • Foster family engagement and school-home communications
    • Explore improvements to the school’s instructional program.
    • Support the professional growth of the school’s staff.
    • Support administering grants-in-aid for the professional development of staff.

    Meetings
    The da Vinci Middle School Site Council usually meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 3:30 - 5:30pm. There are some months where the PPS or our school calendar makes the 3rd Tuesday problematic, and different dates are determined by the group and then posted on the school calendar. Meetings begin in the conference room next to the main office on the second floor of the school and often travel to meet with the schools' teacher leadership teams. Meetings, which are held in compliance with Oregon’s Open Meeting Law, are open to the public. Meetings dates for the 2017-18 school year are listed below:

    Members
    Site Council parent/guardian members for da Vinci are elected per our By-Laws. If you are interested in serving on Site Council as an elected parent/guardian member, in September please send a few paragraphs about yourself and why you would like to serve on the Council to assistant principal Alicia McMillen for inclusion on the fall ballots. A month-long on-site voting period for parent/guardian membership will take place as early each fall as is possible, usually concluding after the fall Family Conferences, where parents/guardians are encouraged to cast their vote in the main hallway.
