The lottery window to apply to da Vinci Arts Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year will be February 8th through March 8th, 2019.

As a focus option school, da Vinci Arts Middle School accepts applications from students who reside throughout the PPS school district. We seek to serve a culturally, ethnically and economically diverse group of arts-interested learners in grades 6, 7 and 8. Students need not be accomplished in the arts, but a strong interest is essential to success at da Vinci. Our goal is to create a rich arts-filled learning environment for students, staff, and families.
Application to da Vinci is a three-step process:
- Student applicants and parents/guardians are required to come to an information session at da Vinci. (This includes siblings of past or current students.) The information session includes a presentation from the principal, Q & A portion, and a student-led tour. See dates below. You do not need a reservation. Please arrive on time and allow about one hour for the information session. The student-led tour after the session is optional. Parking is limited around the school. Please be courteous to our neighbors. The blacktop east of the school will be opened for parking during events but access is limited to one lane. To reduce congestion, travel west to east on Everett St. only.
- Students and parents fill out a da Vinci application (available at the information session) and sign a statement of understanding that outlines the unique aspects of our school. The da Vinci Statement of Understanding needs to be turned into da Vinci.
- Apply to the Lottery through the PPS Enrollment and Transfer department. The lottery will open on February 8 at 8:00 am. The deadline for application will be March 8 at 8:00 am.
There are typically 150 openings for incoming 6th graders and 5 slots for 7th graders. A lottery is drawn from all applicants that have completed the process by the deadline. The lottery is used for both admittance and a waitlist order. Waitlists are not held over from year to year. Students not accepted in the 6th grade must re-apply and follow all steps of the process, including attending another information session if they are interested in entering the lottery the following year for any 7th-grade openings. 8th graders are accepted through a petition process only if space is available. Interested families are encouraged to attend the information sessions to learn more.

February 12, Open House, 3:45 - 4:45*
February 12, Info session #3 5:00 pm
February 20, Info session #4, 6:00 pm
March 11, Info session #5 4:00 pm **
* Open House is optional. This is the one opportunity to visit classrooms. You must still attend the information session on this day or one of the other sessions.
** This final session is AFTER the lottery window closes. You must apply online to the lottery before the deadline of March 8th, but if you attend this session, we will accept your statement of understanding and clear the requirement of attendance to participate in the lottery.
