  • HTMS Students Perform Macbeth

Double double, toil and trouble, Portland Playhouse and Harriet Tubman Middle School bring you the 2019 Fall Festival of Shakespeare! Seven schools have been collaborating together across the city each rehearsing different plays in Shakespeare's canon.

This year's performance of MACBETH will be hosted both at Harriet Tubman on the cafeteria stage and also downtown in Portland's Winningstad Theatre as a part of the Fall Festival.

Students have been working hard to learn lines, blocking, fight choreography, designing all tech elements (costumes, set, lighting, props, sound) under the direction and mentorship of Teaching Artists from the Portland Playhouse. Students will be creating and performing in an interpretation of post-apocalyptic Scotland to tell the famous story of a hero that becomes so obsessed with power, they will stop at nothing to get it.
