The Leap into 9th Grade summer program prepares incoming ninth grade students to excel in high school by building a foundation for success before starting high school.

    What is the curriculum?

    • Intelligence is an area of growth - developing your intelligence is not just retaining information, it involves embracing multiple ways of knowing and recognizing that there are different ways to approach problems. This stems from who you are, acknowledging that your lived experiences serve as valid forms of knowledge, and makes learning experiences unique to every individual.
    • Students learn how their brains change as they learn and how effective effort, productive persistence, skills of collaboration, and motivation can change their academic success. Students also learn how to manage their own engagement in schoolwork, thus taking responsibility for their own learning.
    • Students will participate in AVID skills including writing and vocabulary, and team-building activities.
    • Students discover their interests and learn about different opportunities available to them during high school and after high school. Students participate in hands-on activities related to career and technical education (CTE) programs, practice career and financial planning.
