Dear Dr. MLK Jr. Families,
If your household’s finances, food and security has been impacted negatively by COVID-19, please fill out our Family Stabilization Survey below to apply for assistance. We will be using information gathered from surveys to identify what families’ needs are, as well as to gather data to strengthen ongoing fundraising efforts. We will be reviewing people’s needs and begin making referrals to partner agencies this week. For expenses and needs that cannot be met by partner agencies we will start reviewing applications for our own Family Stabilization Fund starting in early June, prioritizing households who are not receiving adequate government aid.

Please take a moment to complete a brief online survey. Please complete this survey by Sunday, August 9 at 9 p.m.
Following weeks of public engagement, Portland Public Schools Board of Education voted 7-0 on Tuesday to refer a proposed 2020 School Bond Renewal to voters. If approved by voters, the 2020 School Bond Renewal would maintain the current tax rate and continue investments in Portland schools, including funding for critical educational, health and safety, and school modernization priorities.
As the 2019-20 school year wound down and turned into summer, Portland Public Schools continues to keep its meal distribution running to help feed our families. For families who are unable to get to the 14 school meal sites, Amazon stepped up.
At the July 14 Board of Education meeting, Portland Public Schools released a plan that lays out a procedure for renaming its buildings and other spaces. The move to reexamine district names comes in response to the continuing unrest across the country, including in Portland, in reaction to the systematic racism brought into public focus this summer.
