An early start is a vital part of developing reading skills in students, and Portland Public Schools wants to hear your feedback on reading programs for our youngest readers. Please join us for the PK-2 Foundational Literacy Skills Community Night:

    • When: Tuesday, December 3, 6-7:30 p.m.
    • Where: Vestal Elementary School auditorium, 161 NE 82nd

As we continue our work to improve reading scores in our students, especially in our historically underserved communities, we are evaluating programs to enhance and improve our approach to teaching foundational literacy skills in students in pre-kindergarten to second grade.

Please attend the event to hear a presentation and give us feedback on the programs that we are evaluating. The programs are designed to help students learn phonics and decode words and sentences.

Materials will be available that are translated into Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Somali, Spanish and Vietnamese, and interpreters will be available for those languages. Light snacks will be served. Please join us!
