Prepares students to excel in high school and get a head start in working with their teachers and peers. Students will receive a daily bus pass and earn a 0.5 high school elective credit upon successful completion of the program.

The program will be available to all students, but prioritized for incoming 9th and 10th grade students identified as Academic Priority, or students who would benefit from additional supports. Space is limited depending on staffing.

    • Intelligence isn’t a fixed quality — Being smart is about how you think and what you do, not about who you are. Students learn how their brains change as they learn and how effective effort, productive persistence, skills of collaboration, and motivation can change their academic success. Students also learn how to manage their own engagement in schoolwork, thus taking responsibility for their own learning.
    • Integrating the AVID Summer Bridge Algebra Readiness program strengthens students’ understanding of fundamental math concepts to provide a solid foundation for success in math. Students will participate in math content with a WICOR (writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading) emphasis: Focused note-taking, interactive notebooks, writing and vocabulary, and team-building activities.
Students discover their interests and learn about different opportunities available to them during high school and after high school. Students participate in hands-on activities related to career and technical education (CTE) programs, practice career and financial planning and go on field trips to industry partner facilities.
