College Entrance Exams

  • PSAT, SAT and ACT

College entrance exams are standardized aptitude tests to evaluate students in various areas such as math, reading, writing and analytical skills for college admission purposes. PPS offers two tests free of charge to all 10th and 11th grade students.

    PSAT

All 10th grade students are automatically registered to take the PSAT. There is no fee for 10th grade students to take the test. The PSAT is administered to all 10th grade students during the school day each year in October.

The 2019 PSAT/NMSQT will be administered on Wednesday, October 16, during the regular school day, from 8:15 am – 12:00 pm.

Students will have access to the free Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy. Once students connect their College Board and Khan Academy accounts, they will receive personalized SAT practice questions based on their results from the PSAT. Initial data show that 20 hours of studying on Khan Academy is associated with an average SAT score gain of 115 points.

Free wifi hotspots are available to students. Please contact the student attendance coach at your high school for more information.

    SAT

All 11th grade students are automatically registered to take the SAT. There is no fee for 11th grade students to take the SAT. Starting in spring 2020, the SAT will be administered to all 11th grade students during the school day.

The 2020 SAT will be administered on Wednesday, March 4, during the regular school day.

    ACT

The ACT is another college entrance exam used to measure a student’s readiness for college.
