  • News from Lane: Welcome Letter - Important Upcoming Dates

Greetings Lane Students, Families and Community Friends!

As we prepare for a great year of learning together, I want to take a moment to introduce myself to our new family members and share dates for upcoming back-to-school events with you.

My name is Dr. Sherree Coleman, your new Principal at Lane Middle School (LMS).  Over the past 21 years, I have served in K-12 and postsecondary educational settings as a teacher, school counselor, test and AVID coordinator, college counselor, and high school vice principal.  More importantly, for the past two years, I have had the privilege of being a part of the LMS community, serving as the assistant principal. Without question, I am excited to continue our work together and on behalf of the LMS staff, I am happy to welcome each of you to the 2022-23 school year!  I am also thrilled to welcome our two new Assistant Principals to our community, Ms. Emily Barron and Ms. Kayla Thomas-Walker.

As we continue to honor our commitment to building strong relationships with our students, families and community friends, this year we will expand our focus to include efforts to increase engagement while improving academic outcomes for all students.

    Our Shared Vision

At Lane Middle School, our vision is to provide every scholar an engaging, fun and rigorous learning experience where they can explore their identities, build confidence, feel a sense of belonging and thrive.

This year, we are looking forward to establishing productive partnerships with each of you to ensure that every student at Lane can reach their highest potential.  As we have all heard time and time again, “it takes a village” and we recognize that in order for our students to be successful in school, they need support from home, school and our community at large.  With that said, we want to invite you to join us as we come together to celebrate our students’ return to school.  Please mark your calendars for our back-to-school events listed below:
