  • Join the MTMS Site Council

    We are currently looking for one 7th grade family member (to serve the remainder of this year and for the 2023-24 school year) and one 6th grade family member (to serve the remainder of this year, next year, and the 2024-25 school year). All of our family representatives must be voted upon by the MTMS parent community.

     

    The Mt. Tabor Middle School Site Council is established pursuant to the Oregon Educational Act for the 21st Century for the purpose of helping improve student achievement. In compliance with the Act, Site Council membership is made up of at least one administrator or designee, a classified staff representative, elected faculty representatives, elected parent representatives, and one MTMS student representative as well.

     

    Responsibilities of the Site Council include conducting monthly meetings in order to:

    • Focus on improving student achievement.
    • Contribute to the school improvement plan.
    • Foster family engagement and school-home communications
    • Explore improvements to the school’s instructional program.
    • Support the professional growth of the school’s staff.

     

    The MTMS Site Council meets on the first Wednesday of every month from 8:15-9:00 am in the Library. These meetings are open to the public. Below you will find the list of meeting dates for the 2022-23 school year:

  • Harrison Park Embraces Its Inner Panther

    Harrison Park, which transitioned from a K-8 to a middle school this fall, recently held a school-wide vote for a new mascot. According to Principal Leah Dickey, these first few months as a middle school have been pivotal for students as they navigate the new exciting normal and establish an identity as a school and community.     Principal Phu Dao is many things to the students and staff of Roseway Heights Middle School: mentor, role model, champion, friend. Ask anyone who has learned from and worked with him and they will tell you that he has dedicated his entire career to advocating for students, families, and educators. And now he’s being honored for that dedication.

    Courageous Conversation, a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit that works with individuals and institutions to address racial disparities through sustained, fruitful dialogue, has named Principal Dao this year’s recipient of the Dr. Charles Hopson Racial Equity Principal Leadership Award.
