Absence, Lateness, and Early Pickup
Should my child stay at home?
To ensure the health of our school community, families and staff are asked to use the Self Screening Tool every day to screen for common symptoms of illness that may require you to stay home to get better. If a student has any of the symptoms listed on the self-screening checklist and is required to stay home, please report their absence and symptoms to the school by emailing DuniwayAttend@pps.net.

Clothing and Belongings
Label All The Things
Please label all of your students' things with both their first and last names so that lost items can be reunited with their owners. Permanent markers or Sharpies work great!
Things to label may include:
-
jackets, raincoats, sweatshirts
-
hats, scarves, gloves
-
water bottles, lunchboxes, backpacks
Change of Clothes for All Students
With accidents and the rainy season upon us, we are asking all families to send a ziploc bag with a change of clothes to leave at school for each of your students. The bag should be labeled with your student's first and last names and include a top, bottom, underwear, and socks. Thank you!
Lost and Found
Unclaimed items from the Lost and Found in the Cafeteria are periodically boxed up and donated to the PTA Clothing Closet.

Duniway Choir
We are excited for our Duniway Choir to begin on October 10th. Please review the updated arrival protocols:
-
Choir will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays for students in grades 3-5 who have signed up with Ms. Adams.
-
Students will enter through the entrance by the blacktop on SE Rex.
-
The entrance be open from 7:55 to 8:00 a.m.
-
Students arriving by car can be dropped off on SE Rex.
-
Please refrain from driving on SE Reed College Place. It's a very busy street in the mornings and we had several "near misses" there last year.
-
Thank you for your help in keeping our community safe!

General Duniway FAQ
Is there a school supply list somewhere that we can find?
Rather than having parents shop for individual supplies, our teachers order all the supplies for the year and provide them for students. The link to pay your suggested school supply fee on Konstella. We are recommending a $50 per student school supply fee. If you are able, there is also an option to sponsor another student. Please go to schoolpay.com to pay your school supply fee(s).
If you would rather pay with cash or check (made payable to Duniway PTA), you can bring it to the office by ringing the buzzer by the main entrance on SE Reed College Place on school days between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
What is offered for lunch? Snacks? Do we need to pack a lunch or is there lunch offered? If so, how much does it cost?
All school breakfast and lunches are free of charge for PPS students.
Jennifer George and Julie Rocheville, our nutrition specialist and assistant, are looking forward to serving our Duniway students this year! If you need to contact our nutrition staff, please email nsduniway@pps.net.
Classroom teachers will communicate when snack time is, what they encourage students to bring, etc.
How do students purchase their lunch?
Breakfast and lunch are free of charge to all PPS students for the 2024-2025 school year.
Is the Remind app replacing Konstella or do they serve different purposes?
Remind is the app used by PPS to communicate with families regarding any district or school specific news. The district is changing the method we use to communicate with families; we will soon only be using the Remind app. Each person can choose if they would prefer their messages to come to them via text or email (or both). When we begin using Remind to send out the Duniway Digest, it will come with a link that you must click on to read the newsletter.
If you haven't done so already, please join our community on Konstella. Konstella is a platform provided to us by the PTA to help connect parents, volunteer for school activities and keep up to date on community events.
