Duniway Update 9/17

Dear Families, 

We made it through our first full week of school.  Things seem to be settling down and we are starting to get into a routine.  I appreciate your patience and support as we navigated our way through the covid cases. I know we could have done a better job with the communication piece and hopefully we have it figured out if it happens again. 

It was a pleasure to talk to everyone at the PTA meeting on Tuesday.  I hope I answered your questions.  Remember if you have questions or concerns, please reach out.

I want to thank all of our educational assistants K-Sarah Lewis, 1-Jen Bamer, 2-Cathy Hilburg, 3-Susan Ledgerwood, 4-Christy Suib and 5-Jessica Dumas for doing an amazing job.  They are here to support our students in every facet of the school day.  We couldn’t do it without them. Thank you so much.


Today, Friday, September 17th we are starting to locate where students are sitting on the bus.  We will get on the bus to take attendance, then starting from the back and working forward, the seats will be numbered.  As we check your student’s name off we will put the seat number next to their name. This will tell us their location and seatmate.  If a covid case happens again we will know who might have been exposed.


I also want to thank the lunch volunteers who helped us out on Thursday and Friday.  It was really helpful and things went smoothly.  If you want to volunteer, please sign up on Konstella.


OHSU COVID-19 Screening Testing

Many of you have asked about the weekly screening test.  Starting on September 20, we will be sending out an opt in form.  Fill this out and return it to us as soon as possible. We will then send it to OHSU. Once OHSU receives student data and signed forms, they will create a patient record and generate labels for the testing samples. This process will take up to 10 days. OHSU will deliver testing supplies to schools for distribution once this is complete.   More information will be provided as we receive it.


Back-to-School Night

Join us Tuesday, September 21st.  The teachers will send you a link to access their classrooms.  More information will be sent out on Monday.  The PTA  and The Foundation will be giving a brief update on membership and involvement.



DIBELS assessments begin on September 20-October 15.

We are in the process of setting up fall pictures.  When we have more information we will send it to you.
