Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Mandy Carrigg and I have been teaching at Peninsula since 2012. I was born in Portland, Oregon, graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Botany and Plant Pathology, and received my Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Portland. Some of my favorite pastimes are gardening, bird watching, hiking and camping with my family. I live in Southeast Portland with my husband and two children, James, a Peninsula Panther, and Niko, a rambunctious, nature-loving preschooler.

Favorite school memory as a student:
In 1st grade, I had a wonderful teacher named Mrs. Moran who helped us create insect habitats. It was magical observing the potato bugs we had and learning all about their life cycle. One even had babies on my hand!
My “why” for being in public education:
There’s nothing I love more than watching kids grow and learn new skills and develop a love for science.
What I do to unwind and recharge:
I love to be outside! Working in the garden, hiking or playing in a river are my favorite ways to unwind.
