Some background about me:
I have been the K-2 communication-behavior teacher for the past five years at Woodlawn School. My favorite part of teaching is getting to know my students-their strengths, interests, challenges, goals and families-and incorporating their rich knowledge into our lessons, themes and field trips. I use positive behavioral supports and function-based thinking to help my students be successful. This looks like-students being rewarded for what they are doing well, explicitly taught how to act and learn in the classroom, and taking a deeper look when things aren’t going as planned. I am most excited about teaching our new reading curriculum and supporting students’ writing development. I use visuals, songs and art-based interactive lessons to support a variety of learners. I’m looking forward to meeting a broad base of learners and helping them transition from first grade to second!
Some personal tidbits. I have a Shitzu named Camelot who is the sweetest thing and has been known to visit classrooms when allowed. I love to picnic in Portland’s parks and hike in our breathtakingly beautiful woods. I love to read, go to movies and bake tasty treats.
I’m just thrilled to be a part of the Peninsula community!
