  • Principal's Coffee: Message to Families

    April 12, 2020

    Dear Peninsula Community,

Tomorrow we launch into the second week of Home Based Distance Learning.  Teachers spent last week trying out the skills they learned the previous week with the goal of connecting with every Peninsula student.   I’m happy to report that we reached all but 17 students. We will continue searching for these students until we have made contact with them and their parents.  Home Based Distance Learning is new to all of us so I want to thank you for working with your student and having patience with yourself, your child, and the Peninsula staff.  We are all still working out the kinks.

I will begin hosting a weekly Principal’s Coffee on Mondays at 9am starting tomorrow, April 13.  This is a time for you to hear about the big ideas I’ve been talking through with staff and ask questions.  We will do this using the same tool that students use for their synchronous meetings with teachers, Google Meet.  In order to log on, parents will need to use the username and password of a PPS student. Use the Nickname “Peninsula Coffee” to log into the meeting.  Email me at if you can’t get in or need more support.   In order to facilitate a conversation, please mute yourself as soon as you join and” raise your hand” and wait to be called on in order to speak.  I will give a quick tour of the features at the start of the coffee.

Grab a cup of coffee and join me starting Monday, April 13, at 9am.

  • Building Community & Distance Learning: Message to Families

    April 6, 2020

    Dear Peninsula Community,

I hope you are all healthy and finding ways to stay connected during this time of social isolation.  This week, teachers will begin their official outreach to students and families. Our goal for the week is to make a connection with every home and encourage families to engage with the online learning options offered centrally by the district or those designed by Peninsula staff.  Please help support your student as much as you feel comfortable with these activities and know that they are NOT required.

In order to engage with online activities, you will need a device and internet.  If you don’t have access to both of those, don’t hesitate to reply to this communication or contact your homeroom teacher.   Finally, I will be scheduling a weekly Principal’s Coffee to share information and take questions. If you are interested in participating, please fill out this form to let me know your time preferences.

    In service to students,

    Debbie Armendariz
    Peninsula School Principal
