  • Favorite school memory as a student:

When I was in 7th grade, I was on an Odyssey of the Mind team at my school. Odyssey of the Mind was a creative problem-solving competition where teams work on both long-term and spontaneous problems and then compete against other teams. My team went to the World Finals the year that I was in it held at the University of Maryland in College Park. It was such an amazing experience. It was so fun to be on a team with other kids, and it really opened my eyes to how big the world was.

My “why” for being in public education:

I was lucky to have many wonderful teachers and principals throughout my own public school education. As a young adult, when I thought about what jobs were available that seemed interesting, I thought back to some of those role models and sought to emulate their examples.

What I do to unwind and recharge:

I love to hang out with my family and friends. I love to cook. I love to read. And, I love to do anything active and outdoors. I run triathlons. I ski when I can. I go hiking. Anything to get outside and get moving!
