Registration is now open for the Bodecker Foundation's Spring Term hybrid and virtual creative workshops. Please share with your students and teachers. (Suggested target: Arts, Design, Applied Arts, Ceramics, Film, Video.)
CUSTOMIZE AT HOME WITH SEBO WALKER

Mondays and Wednesdays April 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27 / 5-6:30pm via Zoom

Learn how to customize your sneakers in this workshop with artist and pro-skater, Sebo Walker. Sebo will share the different approaches he uses when customizing sneakers, like creating a simple pattern and repeating it, either across the entire shoe or as an accent on desired sections like a swoosh or toe cap. After sharing ideas, thoughts, and processes, we will dive in together. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a sweet pair of customized kicks and your own signature pattern. Supplies needed: new or old pair of shoes; a good Sharpie or paint pen(s). If you don’t have/want to paint shoes feel free to bring a backpack, skateboard, or other item to customize instead.

COMIC BOOK ILLUSTRATION WITH STEVEN WEISSMAN

In this workshop you will learn the skills and techniques involved in comic-strip creation. You’ll develop ideas from rough sketches to thoughtfully composed comic panels and pages, apply concepts of value and color, and engage in improvisational, timed and collaborative exercises. This workshop will provide students with an opportunity to explore cartooning masters past and present; sharing their favorites while discovering new artists to follow. At the end of the workshop, participants will have created an original comic book composed of their collective work. Suggested materials list will be provided with registration confirmation. SKIN DEEP: INTRO TO TATTOO DESIGN WITH VIRGINIA MARTING

Are you curious about tattooing but aren’t sure where to begin?
In this three-week workshop, you’ll meet a diverse panel of working artists who will introduce you to designing “flash” and custom pieces. You’ll learn about ink application, linework, shading, and will familiarize yourself with the language, techniques and materials of the tattoo trade. Facilitated by Virginia Marting of Skeleton Key Tattoo.
