Learn ALL about Street Art, its history, culture, its many aspects of art making, how it can become a professional practice, and meet with several guest street artists every week!

The Street ED Academy, taught by New York-born, Portland-based artist and muralist Adam Brock Ciresi, is committed to creating and enforcing a safe space for students to feel supported and comfortable in participating enthusiastically, which is especially important when taking chances within personal art practices.

STREET ED VIRTUAL ACADEMY 

BENEFITS FOR STUDENTS: 

  • Participant students will be exposed to a variety of methods of street art: spray paint to wheat paste, performance to text, stickers to installations, and everything in between.  

  • Students will learn about Street Art history locally, regionally, and internationally

  • Understand the social and cultural aspects of artwork placement in the public realm and the permitting processes. 

  • Students will be encouraged to make several artworks in the streets as a group and engage with each other through both formal and informal critiques and discussions as means for receiving significant feedback.

  • Students will have work images and documentation to bolster their portfolios

  • Students will hear and be able to speak directly with a diverse group of accomplished street artists

 

SCHEDULE 

The Street ED Academy meets remotely for 10 weeks every Tuesday, starting on February 15th through April 26th, 2022- 4:15pm-5:30pm. (No class on March 22nd). Weeks 11 and 12 are reserved solely for work time on a final street art project.
