Beginning Audio Engineering (Beat Making)Audio Engineering class will build skills necessary to create electronic songs and beats. This program can serve all of the following: the student with no prior musical experience, for students who already study an instrument in the school system, for students who take private lessons or for students who have learned about music or an instrument in a less formal fashion. Students will be provided hands-on experience with technology in order to gain a firsthand understanding of creating electronic music, crafting music loops, recording audio and adding music samples to compositions. Prerequisite: NoneConcert Band (Exploring Hip Hop, Jazz and Rock Band)Concert Band is a beginning level course in which students learn to rehearse and perform in a contemporary, popular music venue via a small band. Educational emphasis is placed on individual preparation, group communication and collaboration, creative exploration, music technology and stagecraft, small group leadership skills, and expanding students’ knowledge of the contemporary music industry. Styles studied and performed include any and all major popular genres (i.e., rock, pop, R&B) and their related sub-genres. Students can possess previous vocal and/or instrumental experience related to popular genres (solo voice, acoustic and electric guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, etc.). Extra rehearsals are scheduled as needed and members should expect at least two public performances. Prerequisite: NoneGuitarIn this class, students will be learning the basic fundamental skills needed for learning to play the guitar. Students will work on beginner music theory, finder mechanics, rhythm, melody, chords and building their ears to excel in music. Course content will also include music appreciation and theory. Guitar class will also feature songwriting and improvisation skills. Prerequisite: NonePianoThis class is for beginning piano students who want to learn to read music and play the piano. Students learn basic music theory, including chords, scales and arpeggios. No prior knowledge is needed to join this class. Course content will also include music appreciation and theory. Piano class will also feature songwriting and improvisation skills. Prerequisite: NoneSymphonic BandThis class is designed for students with intermediate/ advanced musical abilities. Instruments included are percussion, woodwinds (clarinet, flute, saxophone, etc…), and brass (trumpet, trombone, tuba, etc…). Music selections will include popular genres and traditional band literature. Extra rehearsals are scheduled as needed and members should expect at least two public performances. Prerequisite: None
