AVID 11: Personal Finance
In this new diploma requirement, starting with the class of 2027, students will understand credit and debt, banking, investing, saving, and repayment. They will practice strategies for creating a budget and tracking and modifying spending patterns, including exploring common costs associated with rentals and homeownership. Students will understand personal income and taxes and learn how to maintain financial well-being by making informed consumer decisions. This course is paired with AVID 11 and students must pass both classes to receive credit for both.
Semester-only course.AVID 11: Higher Ed. and Career Success
In this new diploma requirement, starting with the class of 2027, students will explore how their strengths, aptitudes, interests, and values connect with future career paths and practice self-advocacy. They will understand the diverse range of career pathways and postsecondary opportunities, and be prepared for the workforce. Students will complete a resume and My Plan that includes a detailed postsecondary plan. This course is paired with AVID 11 and students must pass both classes to receive credit for both AVID 11: Higher Ed & Career Success and AVID 11.
