Jefferson High School Middle College for Advanced Studies
Jefferson High School Middle College for Advanced Studies offers students a unique opportunity to participate in the whole high school experience while taking college courses both at Jefferson and at Portland Community College.
On the Jefferson campus, students take a variety of dual-credit courses. These classes are taught in Jefferson classrooms by Jefferson teachers and meet the level required to earn college credit. Students receive Portland Community College dual-credit for Art 115; Ethnic Studies/ES 101; Junior English/Integrated Reading and Writing (IRW 115); Pre-Calculus/MATH 95; Oregon Institute of Technology for Anatomy & Physiology/BIO 103; and Portland State University credit for Senior Inquiry.
On the Portland Community College Cascade campus, Jefferson students can take up to five credits per term of any 100/200 level course for free. All books and fees are included. Students can take classes that prepare them for a four-year degree or career-training courses such as medical assistance or emergency management systems.
Class of 2024 students are required to have at least 12 college credits to earn a Middle College diploma, including one on-site PCC course.
