SafeOregon continues to grow as a reliable way for students, families and community members to report unsafe situations. Portland Public Schools has been encouraging our community to use the anonymous tipline since 2017.

As awareness of SafeOregon has risen, PPS has seen a 300% increase in reported incidents, with one in every three reports considered “critical” or “urgent,” an increase of 450%.

In particular, PPS students have become increasingly engaged in using SafeOregon, reporting concerns at nearly five times the rate over the same time last year. During that stretch, incidents have been resolved by building administrators within 72 hours 70% of the time.

Funded by the Oregon Legislature as part of a statewide effort to improve safety, SafeOregon offers a way to report concerns such as threats of violence, fights, drugs and alcohol, weapons, bullying, harassment, intimidation and self-harm. The system can be accessed through:

    • The “Report unsafe behavior” button found on every PPS school’s website
    • The SafeOregon website
    • A live call/text (844-472-3367)
    • An email to tip@safeoregon.com
    • The mobile app that can be downloaded from your smarthphone via iTunes or Google Play

To continue spreading the word about this resource, PPS would like to share links to a SafeOregon brochure in English as well as the district’s five supported languages below:
