  • This is a list of scholarships just for Lincoln students! There are so many scholarships out there you can apply for, and this list is a great place to start. Check it out and see if there are any that seem like a good fit for you! 

     

    The David Bailey Scholarship Award

     Award: $10,000 

    The David Bailey Scholarship Award is specific to Lincoln High School Students, and was established to honor the commitment and performance delivered to the LHS community by awarding educational scholarship awards in David Bailey's name to two graduating seniors.

    The Scholarships are awarded to the two graduating LHS students (one male, one female) who demonstrated the highest level of commitment and performance in the combined areas of Leadership, Scholarship, Citizenship, and Sportsmanship while attending Lincoln.

    Each scholarship is $2,500 per year, for up to four years (a maximum total of $10,000 per student) if the recipient/grantee maintains eligibility. 

    • Amount of Scholarship
      Each scholarship is $2,500 per year, for up to four years (a maximum total of $10,000 per student) if the recipient/grantee maintains eligibility.
    • Number of Scholarships
      Two scholarships will be awarded per year-one for the most qualified male candidate and one for the most qualified female candidate.
    • Eligibility
      Grantees must be/become enrolled in a qualified and accredited higher educational organization and make satisfactory progress toward completion of a degree. Scholarship funds may only be used for educational purposes, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for educational courses. Grantees may not be related to the Grantors trustees or Selection Committee members.
    • Selection Committee
      Scholarships will be awarded by a committee consisting of the LHS Principal, one LHS counselor and three LHS teachers selected by the Principal, as well as one representative of the Grantor.

    Each year, scholarships are awarded to LHS seniors through the Lincoln High School Alumni Association (LHSAA). Funds may be used towards tuition, books, supplies, and/or other expenses. Minimum 2.5 GPA. You may apply for more than one scholarship by completing one common application! 

    Find the 2022-2023 LHSAA Scholarship application here. Make sure to save your copy with your information under your own name. You must submit one application with all questions answered via email to the Chair of the Endowment Committee, Vincent Galindo. All submissions must be via email to vgalindo@hyasgroup.com.     $1,000 - Marie Allen Award (honors service to the senior class)

    $1,000 - Ruth Arbuckle Trophy Scholarship (shows a sustained love for LHS and thoughtful kindness & concern)

    $2,000 - Bill Lynch Scholarship (interested in Philosophy and/or English)

    $2,000 - Cardinal STEM-Dickey Scholarship (interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and/or Economics)

    $2,000 - Dr. Shirley Malcolm Scholarship (interested in Business or Computer Science fields)

    $3,000 - LHSAA Leadership Scholarship (Leadership abilities)

    $2,000 - Asa I. Arnsberg Scholarship (Planning to attend a 2 or 4-year Oregon college; based significantly on financial need and other qualifications) 

    $9,500 - Bertha Hunter Language Scholarship (Separate application distributed to students by World Language teacher in the fall. Awarded by the World Language Dept. Contact is Mr. Duggan)

    MAF logo Houser Scholarship Program - Multnomah Athletic Fund

     Award: $10,000 for 1st year + $10,000 renewable for 2nd year

    This scholarship celebrates Lincoln High School student-athletes. The Houser Scholarship program is for individuals who are energetic and confident examples of achievement through athletics in our community. Lincoln provided a formative experience for the Houser brothers - Greg and Peter. This scholarship is their way to give back and positively influence scholar athletes as they graduate from their alma mater.

    Basics:

    • Eligible student athletes that attend Lincoln High School can apply with no nomination required.
    • Awards $10,000 for undergraduate work and is renewable for a second year.
    • Use for any field of study.
    • Use at any two- or four-year accredited institution.
    • Use funding for tuition, fees, books or technology.

    Criteria:

    • Current senior student in good standing at Lincoln High School.
    • Participation in competitive athletics.
    • Strong character and leadership involvement in their school and community.
    • Minimum cumulative (unweighted) 3.0 GPA.
    • Demonstrate financial need or funding gap to attend school.
    • Enrolled full time at an accredited post-secondary education provider for the upcoming fall term.. 

    Eligibility:

    Applicants must be:

    • Current high school seniors attending Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon
    • U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, U.S. Permanent Residents, Refugees or Humanitarian Parolees – based on the guidelines utilized by U.S. Department of Education for Federal Financial Aid eligibility
    • Anticipate completion of high school diploma at the time of application.
    • Plan to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution starting in the fall following their high school graduation.

    Applicants may not be:

    • Children or dependents of Multnomah Athletic Foundation employees or board of directors.

     Loprinzi Scholarship Program - Multnomah Athletic Fund

    Award Amount: $1,000, $8,000

    This program is for individuals who are energetic and confident examples of achievement through athletics in our community. Embracing the spirit of Joe Loprinzi, the ideal candidates will seize the day, stay active with the folks in their communities and work hard while having fun.

    Eligible student athletes from one of the 30 program high schools can apply with no nomination required. Each school will have an opportunity for a school finalist that will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. The school finalists are then automatically considered for one of three $8,000 awards. The $8,000 scholarship awards are nonrenewable; however, the funding can be split to fund $4,000 in year 1 and $4,000 in year 2. There is no restriction on the field of study and the scholarship can be applied at any 2 or 4 year accredited institution towards tuition, fees, books, or technology. Deadline for application is March 1st.

    Basics:

    • Eligible student athletes from one of the 30 program high schools.
    • Due to an additional scholarship opportunity, students from Lincoln High School have a separate link to apply. Link will be available on Dec 1st for the Loprinzi & Houser application.
    • Three $8,000 awards each year and 27 $1,000 school finalists awards.
    • Nonrenewable but can the funding can be split to fund $4,000 in year one and $4,000 in year two.
    • Use for any field of study.
    • Use at any two- or four-year accredited institution.
    • Use funding for tuition, fees, books or technology.
    • Application deadline March 1.

    Criteria:

    Applicants must:

    • Demonstrate financial need to attend college or university. We utilize the provided information through FAFSA, ORSAA, and the application to determine eligibility. Eligible applicants will have a verified expected family contribution (EFC) of less than $35,000. Exceptions to this EFC threshold can be given in the application process for consideration.
    • Participate in competitive athletics.
    • Engaged in civic involvement and demonstrates leadership in their school and community activities.
    • Have a minimum cumulative (unweighted) 3.0 GPA.
    • Plan to enroll full time in the upcoming fall term.

    Applicants may not be:

    • Children or dependents of Multnomah Athletic Foundation staff or board of directors.
