HB 4030: Education Staff Recruitment & Retention Grant
-
In Spring 2022, the Oregon State Legislature approved HB 4030 to provide one-time grant funding to support retention and recruitment of licensed and classified K-12 personnel in schools across Oregon for the 2022-2023 school year. The legislative and executive intent of these funds is to use them for strategies identified and prioritized through involvement of school personnel to:
- Address high need specialties and workforce shortage areas for both classified and licensed staff;
- Build on existing efforts which address root causes of workforce attrition while responding to urgent needs; and
- Diversify the workforce, as well as ensure every educator and staff member can meet the academic and well-being needs of students, particularly students from historically and persistently underserved groups.
In collaboration with stakeholders, PPS identified three strategies that align to our "Develop a Diverse, High-Quality & Thriving Workforce" strategic plan goals to utilize the approximately $5.8 million grant.
