After an unprecedented pandemic prompted the closure of campuses for the final 13 weeks, the 2019-20 school year in Portland Public Schools will officially end on Wednesday, June 10.

To assure that students get the most instruction possible as we utilize PPS-HD, our home-based distance learning program, the three days designated as possible snow makeup days – June 8, 9 and 10 – have been added to the calendar as instructional days.

The final five full weeks of the school year have been reduced to four days, with district staff on furlough each Friday. The change was made as a cost-cutting measure to help deal with expected dramatic funding shortfalls as state tax revenue is expected to be severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Graduating high school seniors will be invited to participate in diploma celebrations starting Monday, June 8. We will have more information coming this week (see the dates by high school).
