Kindergarten and
Early Learning

  • Welcome to Kindergarten!

This website shares information about kindergarten and provides readiness ideas to help you and your child have a confident start to school.

Connect to Kindergarten events will begin in late January through mid-March. Connect to Kindergarten is an opportunity for your family to learn about your school and its kindergarten program. You will meet staff and parents, learn about the curriculum and classroom routines, and register your child for school. The schedule for Connect events are posted here

Here are some tips as you prepare for kindergarten:

    • Your first step for preparing for school is to register for school! We encourage all families to register for school as early as possible and no later than June 1, 2019.  For more information about registration, visit the Enrollment and Transfer Center website.

    • Donna Shinagawa, kindergarten teacher at Harrison Park, shares suggestions on how to help your child have a great start to school. See video below.

    • Good attendance in kindergarten helps your child succeed in school. To learn more about kindergarten attendance, visit

      Ed Week
    • Share information about your child's interests, strengths, and challenges with the kindergarten teacher. Complete the Child Centered Plan and share it with your teacher in the Fall.

    • Immunization requirements for Kindergarten students are posted here

    • All kindergarten classrooms are full-day and free to families.
